| dc.description.abstract | On amorphous substrates, large-area electronics are based on the electronic components’ monolithic integration. For organic-sourced solar panels, this process usually yields large-sized products with length scales ranging from several centimeters for sensors to a few meters. This is not the case in customary micro-scale electronics, where length scales are usually limited to a few millimeters and integrated circuits (ICs) are built on crystalline substrates. The field of large-area electronics is about to undergo a revolution propelled by novel applications that can be realized at a significantly reduced cost compared to traditional manufacturing techniques. Two key competencies are at the core of this revolution: creating flexible, form-fitting items and manufacturing them using printing-based methods. When the two are combined, high-throughput manufacturing and high volume could result. These days, the market is filled with a wide range of flexible items, including those capable of bending arrays of LED light, elastic radio frequency (RF) electronic tags for data storage, and electronic gadgets with flexible connections. In this study, large-area flexible devices and their development processes, current usage areas, production, and difficulties are investigated. In addition, an analysis is presented to evaluate the performance of solar cells made of organic materials as flexible tools for large areas. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Ram K.
