HEMŞİRELİK ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE HOMOFOBİ VE CİNSEL YÖNELİM MİTLERİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırma hemşirelik eğitimi alan öğrencilerde homofobi ve cinsel yönelim mitlerine olan inanç arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma yapılmadan önce güç analizi yapılarak örneklem büyüklüğü 262 öğrenci olarak bulundu. Araştırma 1 Ocak - 30 Mart 2020 tarihleri arasında İnönü Üniversitesi hemşirelik faültesinde eğitim gören 508 öğrenci ile yapıldı. Verilerin toplanmasında ''Kişisel Bilgi Formu'', ''Cinsel Yönelim Mitleri Ölçeği'' ve ''Hudson ve Rickett's Homofobi Ölçeği'' kullanıldı. Elde edilen verilerin normallik testi Shapiro-Wilk testiyle, normal dağılım göstermeyen değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler Spearman korelasyon analiziyle, değişkenlerin karşılaştırılmasındaysa Mann Whitney U ve Kruskow Wallis H testleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalamasının 21.20±2.09 olduğu, yarısından fazlasının (58.5) 3 ve 4. sınıfta, çoğunun kadın (%67.7), kız ve erkek kardeş sayısının çoğunlukla (%73.2-%73.6) 0-2 aralığında olduğu ve çoğunun (%57.3) ilde yaşadığı görüldü. Cinsel Yönelim Mitleri Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 54.70±10.57 ve Hudson ve Rickett's Homofobi Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 87.11±14.20 olarak bulundu. Cinsel yönelim mitleri ölçeği ile homofobi ölçeği arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyde istatistiksel olarak önemli bir ilişki olduğu görüldü. Sonuç: Araştırma bulguları doğrultusunda hemşirelik öğrencilerinde cinsel yönelim mitlerine olan inancı yüksek olan öğrencilerin, yüksek homofobi düzeyine; cinsel yönelim mitlerine olan inancı düşük olan öğrencilerin ise düşük homofobi seviyesine sahip olduğu bulundu. Aim: This study was planned to determine the relationship between homophobia and belief in sexual orientation myths in nursing students. Method: The sample size was found to be 262 students by performing power analysis before the research was carried out. The research was conducted with 508 students studying at İnönü University's nursing school between 1 January - 30 March 2020. "Personal Information Form", "Sexual Orientation Myths Scale" and "Hudson and Rickett's Homophobia Scale" were used in data collection. Findings: The average age of the students participating in the study was 21.20 ± 2.09, more than half of them (58.5) were in the 3rd and 4th grade, most of them were female (67.7%), the number of sisters and brothers was mostly between 0-2 (73.2% -73.6%) and most (%) 57.3) lived in the province. The total score average of the Sexual Orientation Myths Scale was 54.70 ± 10.57 and the Hudson and Rickett's Homophobia Scale total score mean was 87.11 ± 14.20. There was a moderately significant positive correlation between the sexual orientation myths scale and the homophobia scale. Result: In line with the findings of the research, the students who have high belief in sexual orientation myths among nursing students have a high level of homophobia; It was found that students with low belief in sexual orientation myths had a low level of homophobia.
