Abductor Hallusis Muscle in The Pathogenesis of Clubfoot: Histopathologic Study

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the abductor hallusis muscle fibrosis in clubfoot with histopathological method. Material and Methods: Fifteen abductor hallusis muscle specimens were removed during the complete subtalar release operation. The muscle specimens were stained with Masson's tricrom and investigated for fibrosis. Results and Conclusion: Fibrosis were determined in all of the muscle specimens. Abductor hallusis muscle have a role in clubfoot pathogenesis and must be released or removed during the soft tissue surgery of clubfoot.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, konjenital pes ekinovarus olgularındaki abdüktör hallusis kas fibrozisinin histopatolojik olarak araştırılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Komplet subtalar gevşetme sırasında rutin olarak abdüktör hallusis kas eksizyonu yaptığımız 15 ayaktan alınan kas örnekleri Masson trikrom boyası ile boyanıp, kas dokusunda fibrozis araştırıldı. Bulgular ve Sonuç: Tüm kas dokusu örneklerinde, kasın bağ dokusunda ileri derecede fibrozis saptandı. Konjenital pes ekinovarus patogenezinde abdüktör hallusis kasının da katkısı vardır ve yumuşak doku cerrahisi yapılan olgularda bu kas gevşetilmeli ya da eksize edilmelidir.
