DİNLER TARİHİ ALANINDAKİ ÇALIŞMALARI İLE GUSTAV MENSCHİNG

Abstract

XX. Yüzyılın önemli alman din bilimcilerinden Gustav Mensching'in dinler tarihi ve karşılaştırmalı din bilimleri alanlarında birçok çalışması bulunmaktadır. Mensching'e göre din bilimleri Dinler Tarihi ile başlamakta ve karşılaştırmalı/sistematik din bilimiyle en üst noktaya varmaktadır. Mensching, öncelikle dinleri, milli dinler ve evrensel dinler olarak sınıflandırmaktadır. Milli dinler, dinin taşıyıcısının topluluk olduğu, kurtuluşun bu topluluğunun içinde bulunmakla elde edildiği dinlerdir. Evrensel dinler ise ortaya çıktığı bölgeyi ve milleti aşarak, farklı farklı bölge ve milletler arasında kabul gören ve yayılan dinlerdir. Mensching, bu sınıflandırmada ele aldığı her bir dinin farklı özelliğini tespit ederek aynı zamanda din tipolojisinin bir yönünü uyguladığını belirtmektedir. Ona göre, din tipolojisinin diğer bir yönü de farklı farklı dinleri belli din tipleri altında ortak özellikleriyle ortaya koymaktır. Mensching'in din tipolojisine göre, tesadüfi özellikler gerçek bir din tipini açıklayamaz. "Tip" teriminden kastedilen anlam, dinlerde karakter belirleyici ortak özelliklerdir. Mesela Tanrı bilgisi, kurtuluş yolu ve hedefi, dinin ortaya çıkışı, Tanrı tecrübesi gibi. Mensching, karşılaştırmalı din bilimlerinin bir dalı olarak gördüğü din tipolojisinin özellikle dinleri anlamak adına gerekli olduğuna dikkat çekmektedir. Bunun yanında Mensching'e göre din biliminin asıl görevi dini yapıları anlamaktır. Anlamak için ise dini tezahürlerin yani fenomenlerin asıl anlamlarını öğrenmek gerekmektedir. Kutsalın tezahürlerinin her dinde nasıl anlaşıldığını belirlemek sistematik din bilimlerinin görevidir.

Gustav Mensching, an important German scientist of religion in the XXth century, has a lot of studies in history of religions and in comparative religions. According to Mensching, the science of religion starts with the history of religion and it reaches with the comparative/systematic science of religion to the top. Firstly Mensching, classifies the religions into national religions and international religions. National religions are these in which the population is the carrier of the religion and the liberation is achieved among the population. By exceeding the area and its people, where the universal religions emerged, the universal religions are approved and spread between different regions and nations. In this classification Mensching, determines each religion's features and at the same time, he indicates that he practices one aspect of the typology of religion. According to Mensching, another aspect of the typology of religion is to examine different religions under certain religion types by revealing similarities. After Mensching's typology of religion, incidental features cannot explain a real religion type. "Type" describes the different characteristics of religions e.g. the knowledge about God, the way and the aim of liberation, the emergence of the religion and the experience of God. Mensching, draws attention that in particular the typology of religion, which is seen as a branch of the comparative religions, are important to understand the religions. Besides, the main duty of the science of religion is to understand the religious structures. To understand these, it is necessary to learn the religious manifestations and phenomena. It is the task of the systematic sciences of religion to specify how the manifestations of the sanctity is understood in all religions.
