ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ BEDENSEL CEZAYA BAKIŞ AÇILARI (FIRAT ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖRNEĞİ)

Abstract

Araştırmanın genel amacı, öğretmen adaylarının eğitimde bir disiplin ve cezalandırma aracı olarak kullanılan bedensel ceza hakkındaki görüşlerini çeşitli değişkenler bağlamında ortaya koymak ve değerlendirmektir.Araştırma, 2006-2007 eğitim öğretim yılında, Elazığ Fırat Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi İlköğretim Bölümü Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği, Sınıf Öğretmenliği ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği programları 4. sınıfa devam eden 297 öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır.Araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından beşli Likert tipi derecelendirme ölçeği kullanılarak geliştirilen ve 47 maddeden oluşan veri toplama aracı, sözü edilen programlarda okuyan öğrencilerin sınıflarına gidilerek yine araştırmacı tarafından uygulanmış ve toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde öğrencilerin kişisel bilgilerini vermek amacıyla yüzde ve frekans, cinsiyet değişkenine göre t testi, bölüm değişkenine göre tek yönlü varyans analizi, KWH, LSD ve MWU testleri kullanılmıştır. Bütün bu istatistiksel işlemlerde SPSS 16.0 programı kullanılmıştır.Elde edilen bulgular ışığında öğretmen adaylarının görüşlerinin cinsiyet ve bölüm değişkenlerine göre anlamlı biçimde farklılaştığı görülmektedir. Öğretmen adaylarını genel olarak bedensel cezaya ve kullanımına karşıdırlar ve meslek hayatlarında bedensel cezayı bir davranış değişikliği yaratma stratejisi olarak görmeyecek oluşları araştırmanın en önemli sonucunu teşkil etmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Disiplin, Şiddet, Bedensel Ceza

The aim of this study is to determine and evaluate the candidate teachers? aspects in context of different variables about corporal punishment which exists in educational system as a disciplinary punishment technique.The research has been conducted in Fırat University, Faculty of Education, Department of Elementary in 2006-2007 academic year and it has included 297 fourth grade students at the preservice Social Studies, Classroom Teaching and Science Teaching Courses.A five-point Likert-type scale developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool in the study. Independent-Samples t-test, percent and frequency, one way ANOVA, LSD, KWH and MWU tests were used to analyze the data.In light of the findings, the candidate teachers? aspects about corporal punishment are differ from each other according to gender, and preservice departments. The candidate teachers are against corporal punishment in general. The most important consequence of the study is the existence of the disapproving corporal punishment as a problem-solving strategy.Key Words: Discipline, Violence, Corporal Punishment.
