Difficulties in Imaging Organic Orbital Foreign Bodies

Abstract

ABS TRACTEye trauma constitutes a significant portion of emergency department visits, and intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) can lead tose- vere vision loss if not treated promptly. Diagnostic methods such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or ultrasonography can help determine the presence and location of IOFBs. This case report discusses the condition of a 54-year-old woman who suffered trauma from an organic foreign body. The foreign body was not detected by any imaging method but was later identified and successfully removed as the clin- ical findings progressed. This case highlights the challenges in diagnosing IOFBs and the importance of thorough clinical evaluation, even when imaging methods fall short.
