| dc.description.abstract | A series of laboratory experiments were conducted to measure the aeration performance of different shaped weirs (rectangular, semicircular, trapezoidal, and triangular notch) at a recirculating system over a range of flows (1-4 litres/second) and drop heights (0.15-0.9 m). The drop height was the most important parameter influencing gas-liquid mass transfer. Increasing discharge generally resulted in a higher oxygen transfer efficiency. The trapezoidal weir showed the best aeration performance at low discharges and high drop heights. The triangular notch weir generally was the best weir at low drop height and low discharge. | |
