TÜRK DÜŞÜNCE TARİHİNDE ALİ FUAD BAŞGİL

Abstract

Türkiye'nin büyük siyasî ve toplumsal dönüşümler yaşadığı bir sürece bizzat tanıklık etmiş olan Ali Fuad Başgil (1893-1967) eğitimci, hukukçu-sosyolog, siyasetçi ve bilim adamı gibi birçok kimlikle tanınan önemli bir şahsiyettir. Türk milletini çok seven Başgil, onun ilerlemesini, refah ve huzura ulaşmasını, demokratik hususlar çerçevesinde gelişmesini istemiş ve bu konuda büyük bir gayret sarf etmiştir. Hükümet, anayasa, demokrasi, Türkçe meselesi, din ve laiklik, 27 Mayıs ihtilali ve nedenleri, hürriyet gibi daha pek çok konuyu kaleme alarak kamuoyunda büyük bir yankı uyandırmıştır. Bu anlamda söyledikleri ve yazdıkları, hem Türkiye'nin siyasi ve toplumsal dönüşümünü görmek hem de onun fikri tekâmül seyrini anlamak açısından önemlidir. Sonuçta hukuk, siyaset ve düşünce alanındaki fikir ve eylemleri ile Ali Fuad Başgil, Türkiye'de önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Türkiye'nin demokrasi, ilim ve medeniyet gelişimine büyük bir katkı sağlamış ve ele aldığı kavramlarla, ülkemizde bu alana ilişkin önemli bir literatür boşluğunu doldurmaya çalışmıştır. Onun fikirleri, mücadelesi ve eserleri, yaşadığı dönemin ve hatta bugünün olumsuzluklarının kaynağını göstermede temel bir referans oluşturmaktadır. Bu bakımdan eserleri bir belge niteliği olarak görülebilir.

Ali Fuad Başgil (1893-1967), who personally witnessed a process in which Turkey was going through great political and social transformations, is an important figure known with many identities such as educator, lawyer-sociologist, politician and scientist. Başgil, who loves the Turkish nation very much, wanted it to progress, reach prosperity and peace, develop within the framework of democratic issues and made a great effort in this regard. The government aroused a great repercussion in the public by writing on many issues such as the constitution, democracy, the Turkish issue, religion and secularism, the May 27 revolution and its causes, and freedom. In this sense, what he said and wrote is important both to see Turkey's political and social transformation and to understand its intellectual evolution. As a result, Ali Fuad Başgil had an important place in Turkey with his ideas and actions in the fields of law, politics and thought. He made a great contribution to the development of democracy, science and civilization in Turkey and tried to fill an important literature gap in our country with the concepts he discussed. His ideas, struggle and works constitute a basic reference in showing the source of the negativities of his period and even today. In this respect, his works can be seen as a document quality.
