Abstract

With this study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of Art teachers about the problems and solutions of the departments of Art Teaching. It was also aimed to determine if there were any differences according to the personal features. Besides it was aimed to stress the importance and necessity of Art teaching in the framework of general education. The study was conducted in 21 Art teaching departments in Turkey in 2001-2002 academic year and the 323 teachers were included in the study. The data which were accepted valid and useful were obtained from 79.9 % of the population. According to the views on teaching hours, content and applying content in Art teaching departments in Education faculties it was determined that the class hours for Design Course was insufficient and both the content and the level of applying content were insufficient too.
