Introduction: In our study, the effects of IgM enriched immunoglobulin on bacterial translocation in rats subjected to intestinal ischemia-reperfusion. Methods: Sixteen rats the weights of which were ranged between 200-250 g were used. The subjects were randomly divided to two groups. Ketamin-HCl and xalazine were used in anaestesia as IM. E.coli was orally given to all rats before procedure. A small midline incision was made in the abdomen. Thereafter, ischemia (30 min), reperfusion (60 min) via arteria mesenterica superior were performed. Before experiment, 1ml/day of pentaglobin was intraperitorreally introduced to the Group 2 for 3 days. Blood samples were taken before and after ischemia and after reperfusion and then analyzed in PCR. Intestinal tissue was histopathologically evaluated. Result: When bacteria translocation was investigated, it was seen that a positive response was observed in one of the rats in Group 2. The damage of intestinal tissue was significantly reduced in rats given pentaglobin. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the using of pentaglobin before ischemia the damage of intestinal tissue and bacterial translocation were decreased.
