The determination of uranium, thorium and potassium in various coals and fly ashes

Abstract

In this study the quantities of uranium, thorium and potassium in various coals and fly ash samples have been determined by using a multiple channel gamma spectrometer. In addition total gamma activities of samples were measured and compared. According to the results, the uranium contents of Silopi and Cizre coals were observed to be high. The high uranium contents of these coals may form an important risk towards the public health. -English summary
