Applications of fixed point theory to equations of curvature type.

Abstract

Bu tezde, diferansiyel geometri ve fonksiyonel analiz alanlarının kesişiminde yer alan eğrilik denklemlerinin analizi ele alınmaktadır. Özellikle dönel simetriye sahip yüzeylerden elde edilen eğrilik denklemlerinin tekillik içeren adi diferansiyel denklemlere indirgenmesi ve bu denklemlerin çözülebilirliği çalışmanın temel amacını oluşturmaktadır. Tezin ana hedefi, sabit nokta teorisine dayalı yöntemler kullanılarak bu tür tekil problemlerde varlık ve teklik sonuçlarının elde edilmesidir. Çalışmada, belirli Weingarten türü eğrilik ilişkilerini sağlayan dönel yüzeyler incelenmiş ve bu yüzeylerin dönme eksenini dik olarak kesmesi durumunda ortaya çıkan tekil başlangıç değer problemleri analiz edilmiştir. Tezin temel hipotezi, söz konusu tekil adi diferansiyel denklemlerin uygun fonksiyon uzaylarında integral denklemlerine dönüştürülmesi halinde, Banach daraltma prensibi ve Picard yaklaşımı kullanılarak yerel çözümlerin varlığı ve tekliğinin ispatlanabileceğidir. Araştırmada örneklem olarak, Euclid uzayında tanımlı dönel simetriye sahip yüzeylerden türetilen matematiksel modeller kullanılmıştır. Yöntem olarak, metrik uzaylar ve Banach uzayları çerçevesinde sabit nokta teorisi uygulanmış, tekil diferansiyel denklemler integral operatörler aracılığıyla ele alınmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, uygun koşullar altında dönel Weingarten yüzeylerine karşılık gelen çözümlerin yerel olarak var olduğunu ve tek olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak, bu tez, tekil eğrilik denklemlerinin analizinde sabit nokta yöntemlerinin etkinliğini ortaya koymakta ve diferansiyel geometri ile fonksiyonel analiz arasındaki ilişkiye katkı sağlamaktadır.This thesis investigates applications of Fixed Point Theory to singular ordinary differential equations arising from curvature conditions on rotational surfaces. The primary objective is to establish existence and uniqueness results for solutions of curvature equations derived from Weingarten surface relations in Euclidean space. The study focuses on rotational surfaces satisfying a prescribed functional relationship between mean curvature and Gauss curvature, particularly under the condition of orthogonal intersection with the axis of rotation. The research formulates the governing curvature equations as singular initial value problems and transforms them into equivalent integral equations suitable for fixed point analysis. The Banach Contraction Principle and Picard's Theorem are employed to construct nonlinear operators on appropriate function spaces and to demonstrate the existence and uniqueness of local solutions. This analytical framework allows singular behavior at the rotation axis to be handled rigorously without relying on classical regularity assumptions. The results provide a systematic method for proving the solvability of singular curvature equations and yield classification criteria for rotational Weingarten surfaces satisfying the given curvature relations. The findings contribute to the mathematical understanding of curvature-driven surface theory and illustrate the effectiveness of fixed-point methods in geometric analysis.
