Thanks to its geographical location, Anatolia has hosted many civilizations since the early ages. XI. With the victory of Manzikert in the 16th century, the gates of Anatolia were completely opened to the Turks. The Turks had a say in the places they captured, both de facto and legally. Combining the east with the west, Anatolia has always preserved its place and importance thanks to its natural resources and rich climate. Many states in history have made conquests for their economic interests. The Seljuks made their conquests in line with economic resources without going beyond this thought. Thanks to the conquest policy they adopted, they brought Anatolia back into the field of commercial activity. Political and commercial relations between states are provided through roads. They tried to keep the economic and political relations alive by sometimes using the highway and sometimes the sea and river ways. With the capture of important cities such as Sinop, Antalya, and Crimea, the roads in the Mediterranean-Black Sea direction were further revived. At the same time, a large part of Asia-European trade passed through Anatolia, thanks to roads such as the Silk Road and the King's Road, which gave direction to world trade. Thanks to this developing trade, it was desired to create a strong infrastructure. The continuity of trade was ensured by building caravanserais on these important roads in Anatolia. These structures have been an important proof of the political and economic stability in Anatolia. The merchants who came to these caravanserais were protected from all kinds of dangers and tried to meet the needs of all passengers by establishing shelters for their animals, mosques, baths and fountains. Many of the caravanserais built on international highways that cut Anatolia in the east-west and north-south directions were foundations and provided free service to passengers. The Ottoman state, which took root in Anatolia after the Mongol domination, continued to develop and use the transportation and infrastructure system in the Seljuks.
