| dc.description.abstract | Many bladder diseases such as bladder cancer with muscular bladder wall involvement and nonfunctioning bladder are treated with radical cystectomy and urinary diversion with neobladder reconstruction. Various urinary diversion procedures can be classified based on segment of the bowel used, antireflux mechanism, and means of elimination. Types of urinary diversions performed today include noncontinent, cutaneous diversion (conduit); continent, cutaneous diversion (pouch); and continent urinary diversion to native urethra (neobladder, orthotopic reconstruction). In this chapter, we describe different types of urinary diversions and their radiological appearances and identify complications associated with urinary diversions. © Springer-Verlag London 2013. | |
