ÖZEL YETENEKLİ ÖĞRENCİLERİN ÇALIŞMA ALIŞKANLIKLARININ ÇEŞİTLİ DEĞİŞKENLER AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın genel amacı, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin ders çalışma alışkanlıklarının düzeyini ve ders çalışma alışkanlıklarının demografik özelliklerine göre farklılaşma durumunu belirlemek, ayrıca yılsonu başarı puanları ile ders çalışma alışkanlıkları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırma örneklemini Türkiye'de beş farklı ilde bulunan BİLSEM'lerdeki ilkokul ve ortaokul düzeyinde öğrenim gören 366 özel yetenekli öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmış olup veriler uygun örnekleme yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı Günaydın (2011) tarafından geliştirilen "Ders Çalışma Alışkanlıkları Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verileri 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılı ikinci döneminde toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracının birinci kısmında yer alan kişisel bilgi formundan elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde betimsel istatistik tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Ders çalışma ölçeğinden elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde değişkenler arasındaki karşılaştırmalarda normal dağılım gösteren değişkenler için bağımsız gruplar t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi (One Way ANOVA); normal dağılım göstermeyen değişkenler için Kruskal Wallis Testi; iki ya da daha fazla değişken arasındaki ilişkinin gücünü ve yönünü belirlemek üzere korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularından ulaşılan sonuçlara göre özel yetenekli öğrencilerin ders çalışma alışkanlıkları kullanılan ölçeğin alt boyutlarına göre farklılık göstermekle birlikte genellike orta düzeydedir. Öğrencilerin ders çalışma alışkanlıkları cinsiyet değişkeni açısından kız öğrenciler lehine farklılık göstermiştir. Ayrıca gruplar arası yapılan karşılaştırmalarda özel yetenekli öğrencilerin ders çalışma alışkanlıkları ile sınıf düzeyi, çalışma süresi, babanın mesleği ve yılsonu başarı puanları arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuş, diğer değişkenler açısından istatistiksel bir farka rastlanmamıştır. Özel yetenekli öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını etkileyen en önemli unsura yönelik görüşlerini belirlemek üzere kişisel bilgi formundaki ilgili soruya verilen cevaplara göre öğrenciler en fazla çok çalıştıkları ve zeki oldukları için başarılı olduklarını, başarılarına en az etkinin ise çalışma ortamları olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. The aim of this study was to determine the study the level of habits of specially gifted students and to investigate the relationship between the differentiation status and end-year achievement scores and also study habits according to demographic characteristics of students' study habits. The study sample consists of 366 gifted students studying at primary and secondary levels in science and art centers located in five different cities in Turkey. Relational scanning model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research; data were collected by random sampling. "Study Habits Scale developed by Günaydın (2011) were used as data collection tools in this study. The research data were collected in the second semester of 2018-2019 academic year. Descriptive statistical techniques were used to analyze the data obtained from the personal information form, which is in the first part of data collection tools. In the analysis of the data obtained from the study scale, independent (unrelated) t-test and one-way ANOVA were used for the variables with normal distribution and Kruskal Wallis-H Test was used for variables that do not show normal distribution in comparisons between variables; Correlation analysis was used to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between two or more variables. According to the results of the research findings, the study habits of the students with special skills vary according to the sub-dimensions of the scale used, but are generally moderate. Students' study habits differed in favor of female students in terms of gender variable. In addition, in the comparisons made between the groups, a significant difference was found between the study habits of the gifted students and the grade level, duration of study, father profession and year-end achievement score and there was no difference in terms of other variables. According to answers given to the related question in the personal information form in order to determine the opinions of the most talented students about the most important factor affecting their academic achievement, the students stated that they were successful because they were working hard and being more intelligent and stated that the least effect on their success was the work environments.
