SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN COĞRAFYA KONULARININ ÖĞRETİMİNDE KULLANDIKLARI YÖNTEM VE TEKNİKLERİN İNCELENMESİ (Bafra Örneği)

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin coğrafya konularının öğretiminde tercih ettikleri yöntem ve teknikleri, karşılaştıkları problemleri belirlemek ve bu problemlere yönelik çözüm ve önerilerinde bulunmaktır. Bu araştırma ‘’Durum Çalışması’’ deseni kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu, Samsun ili Bafra ilçesine bağlı ortaokullarda 5. 6. 7. sınıf kademelerinde görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada 9 Kadın, 11 erkek toplam 20 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler içerik analizine bağlı olarak çözümlenmiştir. Bu araştırma ile sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler dersi içerisindeki coğrafya konularının öğretilmesinde kullandıkları yöntem ve teknikler ile bu yöntem ve teknikleri kullanırken karşılaştıkları sorunlar tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan araştırmada sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çoğunlukla geleneksel yöntemleri kullandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çağdaş yöntem ve teknikleri yeterli düzeyde kullanmadıklarını dile getiren öğretmenlerin, bu durumu öğrenci mevcudunun fazla olması, ders müfredatını belirlenen zamana göre yetiştirmek zorunda olmaları ve ekonomik sorunlar gibi çeşitli nedenlere dayandırdıkları tespit edilmiştir.

The main purpose of this study is to identify the methods and techniques preferred by social studies teachers in teaching geography subjects, the problems they face and to provide solutions and suggestions for these problems. This research was carried out using the “Case Study” design. Data were collected through semi-structured interview forms. The study group consists of social studies teacher working at the 5ht 6th and 7th grade levels in secondary schools in Bafra district of Samsun province. In the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 20 social studies teachers, 9 female and 11 male. The data obtained from the research analyzed based on content analysis. With this research, the methods, and techniques that social studies teachers use in teaching geography subjects in social studies lessons and the problems they encounter while using these methods and techniques have been determined. It has been concluded that social studies teachers mostly use traditional methods, in line with the relevant studies in the literature on the subject. It has been determined that the teachers, who do not use modern methods and techniques adequately, attribute this situation to various such as the large number of students, the fact that they have to train the course curriculum according to the determined time and economic problems.
