H. 1255 TARİHLİ 3741 NUMARALI MUSUL EYALETİ, MUSUL MERKEZ KAZASI NÜFUS DEFTERİNİN TRANSKRİPSİYON VE DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Nüfus, belirli bir zaman diliminde bir bölgede ikamet eden insan sayısını göstermektedir. Osmanlı Devleti'nde ilk nüfus sayımlarının 15 ve 16. Yüzyıllarında yapılmış olmasına rağmen pek bir sonuç alınmasa da sistematik olarak II. Mahmut döneminde 1831 yılında yapılan nüfus sayımları modern anlamda niteleyebileceğimiz ilk nüfus sayımıdır. Yapılan bu sayımın asıl maksadı vergi ve asker alma odaklı olmasından dolayı tam nüfus hakkında bilgi sahibi değiliz. Bu tarihden itibaren nüfus sayımları belirli aralıklarla yapılmış olup zaman içerisinde günümüze kadar daha net sonuçlar doğuracak şekilde değişikliğe uğramıştır. Çalışma konusu olarak seçtiğimiz H. 1255 Tarihli 3741 Numaralı Musul Eyaleti Musul Merkez Kazası Nüfus Defteri, Hicri 1 Muharrem 1255 / Miladi 17 Mart 1839 yılında kayıt altına alınmıştır. Nüfus Defterimiz; Musul'un merkezinde bulunan mahalleler ve hane sayısını belirtmektedir. Devletin asker alma ve vergi vermek amacıyla gerçekleştirdiği bu nüfus defterinde bulunan kişilerin fiizksel özellikleri, meslekleri, sağlık problemleri, göç hareketlilikleri ve meslekleri hakkında vermektedir.

Population shows the number of people residing in a region in a certain period of time. Although the first population censuses in the Ottoman Empire were conducted in the 15th and 16th centuries, they did not yield much result, but the systematic census conducted in 1831 during the reign of Mahmut II was the first census that we can characterize in the modern sense. Since the main purpose of this census was focused on tax and military recruitment, we do not have information about the full population. Since then, population censuses have been conducted at regular intervals and have undergone changes over time to produce clearer results until today. The Mosul Province Mosul Central District Population Book No. 3741 dated 1255 AH, which we have chosen as the subject of our study, was recorded in the year 1 Muharram 1255 Hijri / March 17, 1839 Gregorian Our Population Book indicates the neighborhoods and the number of households in the center of Mosul. It provides information about the physical characteristics, occupations, health problems, migration mobility and occupations of the people in this population book, which was carried out by the state for the purpose of recruiting soldiers and taxation.
