Abstract

Köklü ve zengin geçmişini edebî ürünleri ile maziden günümüze taşıyan Türk kültürü, yaşadığı ve yaşattığı mirasını günümüzden de atiye aktarmaktadır. Bu engin birikim ve tecrübe, soylu miras, alın akı ürünler Türk milletinin en açık ve net belgeleri, kimliğinin en şeffaf belirtileridir. Türk kültürünün zengin mirası içerisinde halkın kolektif bilincini ve ruhunun derinliklerini anlatan edebî ürünleri ve bu ürünlerin içerisindeki kodları ayırt edici bir unsurdur. Sayılamayacak kadar motif ve bu motiflerin içerdiği simgesel anlamlar, zenginliğin sadece bir kısmıdır denilebilir. Nitekim; taşıdığı anlamları itibariyle Türk kültüründe önemli bir sembolün adı haline gelen “gül” çeşitli yönleriyle incelenmeyi gerektirecek bir öneme sahiptir. Gerçek anlamından sıyrılarak mecazi anlamlara, somut anlamından çıkıp soyut anlamlara bürünmesi ve bir geleneğin adı olması gülün kültürümüzdeki önemini gözler önüne sermektedir. Çalışmamızda güzelin ve güzelliklerin temsili adı olan gülün, gerçeklikten mecaza ve simgesel anlamlara uzanan yönleri üzerinde durulacaktır. Bu doğrultuda gülün çeşitli özellikleri, çağrıştırdıkları, halk kültüründeki yeri ile birlikte sembolik anlamları üzerinde durularak gül farklı açılardan değerlendirilecektir. Böylelikle hem gerçek hem de mecazi anlamları ile gülün Türk kültüründeki önemi tespit edilecektir.

Bringing its deep-rotted and rich history into the present with its literary works, the Turkish culture is also transferring to future the heritage it inhabits and keeps alive. This vast experience and knowledge, the noble heritage and honourable works are the most open and clear documents of the Turkish nation and the most transparent signs of its identity. Describing the collective consciousness of the people and the depths of their spirits within the rich heritage of the Turkish culture, the literary works and the codes embedded in those works signify a distinguishing feature. It is possible to say that motifs beyond measure and the symbolic meanings they contain represent just a part of this richness. In fact, rose, which has a variety of meanings and therefore has become an important symbol in Turkish culture, holds a significant position that requires to be studied in its various aspects. Rose leaves behind its real and concrete meanings and wraps itself up in metaphoric and abstract meanings, and it is the name of a tradition, all of which reveals its importance in our culture. This work puts emphasis on rose, a representative of beautiful and beauties, with aspects ranging from reality to metaphor and symbolic meanings. Accordingly, rose will be evaluated from different perspectives with a special focus on its various characteristics, connotations and place in folk culture as well as its symbolic meanings. Thus, the significance of rose in Turkish culture will be identified with a focus on its both real and metaphoric meanings.
