BIST 100 Gıda İşletmelerinin Z-Skor Modeli ile Risk Analizi

Abstract

Gıda, insanın var olduğu andan itibaren yaşamını sürdürebilmek için doğayla mücadele ettiği en önemli ihtiyaçtır. Tarımsal faaliyetlerin başlamasına kadar avcı-toplayıcı beslenme kültürüne sahip olan insanoğlu, bu dönemden itibaren yerleşik düzene geçmiş; bitkisel ve hayvansal gıda üreticisi ve tüketicisi olmuştur. Sanayi Devrimi’nden sonra da hızla gelişen gıda teknolojisi, yiyeceklerin seri üretimine imkân tanımış ve gıda sektörünün Dünya genelinde yaygınlaşmasına önemli katkı sağlamıştır. Günümüzde ise giderek artan nüfusun hayati talebini karşılayan gıda sektörü, herhangi bir ikamesi olmadığı için üretim faaliyetlerini sürdürmek zorundadır. Özellikle gelişmekte olan ülkelerde, gıda işletmelerinin finansal başarısızlığı; genel ekonomiyi etkileyen işsizlik, tarımsal üretim ve ekonomik büyüme gibi konularda sorunlar yaşanmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, finansal başarısızlığı 2 yıl önceden belirleyebilme olanağını sağlayan Altman Z-Skor Modelinden yararlanılarak gıda sektöründe faaliyet gösteren işletmelerin finansal başarısızlık ve iflas risk tahmini yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Model sonuçlarına göre analizi yapılan şirketlerin finansal sıkıntısının olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Küresel ve ulusal düzeyde yaşanan dinamik finansal olaylar veya uygulanan makroekonomik kararlar, finansal yapıların da değişmesine neden olmaktadır. Özellikle ülkemizde, şirketlerin finansal açıdan belirli periyotlarla izlenmesi, üst yönetimin erken uyarı sinyallerini değerlendirmesi gerekmektedir.

Food is the most important need that humans have struggled with nature to survive since the moment they came into being. Humans, who had a hunter-gatherer diet until the beginning of agricultural activities, have settled down since this period; they have become producers and consumers of plant and animal foods. The rapidly developing food technology after the Industrial Revolution has enabled the mass production of food and has made a significant contribution to the spread of the food sector worldwide. Today, the food sector, which meets the vital demand of the ever-increasing population, has to continue its production activities since there is no substitute. Especially in developing countries, the financial failure of food enterprises causes problems such as unemployment, agricultural production and economic growth, which affect the general economy. In this context, the study aims to estimate the financial failure and bankruptcy risk of enterprises operating in the food sector by using the Altman Z-Score Model, which allows the determination of financial failure 2 years in advance. According to the model results, it has been determined that the analyzed companies do not have financial difficulties. Dynamic financial events experienced at global and national levels or macroeconomic decisions implemented also cause changes in financial structures. Especially in our country, companies need to be monitored financially at certain intervals and senior management needs to evaluate early warning signals.
