Some hematologic parameters during different phases of the estrous in the cow

Abstract

This study was performed on the blood samples of 7 Brown cows collected during the estrus, metestrus, diestrus and proestrus phases of the estrous cycle. We investigated whether or not there was a difference between these stages of the cycle with regard to hematologic parameters. Mean hematologic parameters determined during the period of the estrous cycles were found to be within the normal range. This study has shown that the erythrocyte count, total leukocyte count, hematocrit, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin of erythrocyte, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of erythrocyte and mean corpuscular volume of erythrocyte parameters undergo no changes between the cycle periods. In conclusion, no significant differences in hematologic parameters were observed in the various stages of the estrus cycle.
