This study focuses on the use of intermediary languages in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, with an emphasis on the strategy employed by the Faculty of Theology at the University of Al-Furat. The research aims to analyse the impact of this strategy on the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process. The significance of this topic lies in the fact that learning Arabic requires a precise understanding of its rules and structures, thus highlighting the urgent need to explore teaching strategies. This research addresses the ongoing debate regarding the use of an intermediary language in teaching Arabic and whether it can be an effective tool in the learning process or if it hinders direct interaction with the language. To answer this question, a descriptive-analytical approach was followed by collecting data through questionnaires directed at Arabic language teachers at the same faculty, which were then analysed and evaluated. The study is divided into two main sections: the first relates to the concept of the intermediary language and its application trends, while the second explores the strategy of the Faculty of Theology in this area and evaluates its results. The research concludes by presenting the main findings, including the fact that there is a wide discrepancy between supporters and opponents of this strategy, and a middle-ground perspective that sees benefits in the moderate and relative use of an intermediary language. The results also indicate that the Faculty of Theology leans towards the gradual and restricted use of the intermediary language.

Bu çalışma, Arapçayı ana dili olmayanlara öğretmede aracı dillerin kullanımına odaklanmakta olup, Fırat Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi stratejisi üzerinde durmaktadır. Araştırma, bu stratejinin öğretim-öğrenme sürecinin etkinliği üzerindeki etkilerini analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu konunun önemi, Arapçanın öğrenilmesinin, dilin kuralları ve yapıları hakkında doğru bir bilgi gerektirmesidir, bu da öğretim stratejilerinin araştırılmasına olan ihtiyaç olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu araştırma, Arapçayı öğretmede aracı dilin kullanımına dair mevcut tartışmalarla ilgili soruyu gündeme getirmekte ve bunun öğrenme sürecinde etkili bir araç olup olmayacağı ya da dil ile doğrudan etkileşimin önünde bir engel teşkil edip etmeyeceği konusunda bir soru işareti oluşturmaktadır. Bu soruyu yanıtlamak için, Fırat Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi'nde Arapça öğretmenlerine yönelik anketler aracılığıyla veriler toplanmış ve analiz edilip değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca bu çalışma, iki bölümden oluşmaktadır: Birincisi, aracı dilin kavramı ve kullanım eğilimleri ile ilgilidir; ikincisi, İlahiyat Fakültesi'nin bu alandaki stratejisini inceleyip sonuçlarını değerlendirmektedir. Araştırma, en önemli sonuçlar arasında şunları sunarak sona ermektedir: Bu stratejiyi destekleyenler ve karşı çıkanlar arasında geniş bir fark vardır ve orta yolu bulan bir görüş, aracı dilin sınırlı ve dengeli kullanımının faydalı olduğunu görmekte, ayrıca sonuçlar, İlahiyat Fakültesi'nin sınırlı bir şekilde aşamalı kullanım yönünde bir eğilimde olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
