SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN KÜLTÜREL DEĞERLERE DUYARLILIK DÜZEYLERİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin kültürel değerlere duyarlılık düzeylerinin araştırılmasıdır. Araştırmada; sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin demografik ve pedagojik duyarlılık boyutlarının ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin; cinsiyet, ikinci dile sahip olma, mesleki kıdem durumu, yaşadığı coğrafi bölge, yurt dışı tecrübesi ve yabancı ülkeden arkadaşının olup olmaması gibi değişkenlere bağlı olarak eğitim üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Kültürel değerlere sahip çıkmak ve değerleri gelecek nesillere aktarmak bir milletin varlığının devamlılığı için önemlidir. Bu değerlerin kazanılmasında ailenin yanında öğretmenin de katkısı çok büyüktür. Öğretmenin kültürel değerlere yönelik bakış açısı, bilgisi, tutumu ve davranışları başarıyı etkilemektedir. Bu nedenle öğretmenlerden öğrencilerinin kültürel değerlerine hâkim olması istenmektedir. Böylece öğrencinin değerlerine duyarsız kalmadan eğitim sürecinin planlanması sağlanacaktır. Fakat kültürel değerlere duyarlı eğitimle ilgili gerekli bilgi ve beceri altyapısına sahip olmayan öğretmenler, farklı kültürlerden olan öğrencilere yönelik öğrenme sürecini ve ortamını tasarlama konusunda yetersiz kalabilmektedir. Değerlerin öğretilmesi, devamlılığının sağlanması her toplumun başta gelen hedeflerinden birisi olmuştur. Tüm eğitim kurumlarının programlarında değerlere yer vermesi, değer eğitimini kolaylaştırabilecek bir işlem gibi görülmektedir. Kültürel değerlerin aktarılması sürecinde tüm kesimlerin birlikte hareket etmesi, değer eğitimine olumlu katkı sağlayacaktır. The aim of this study is to examine the sensitivity levels of Social Studies Teachers towards cultural values. In the study, it was aimed to deal with the demographic and pedagogical sensitivity dimensions of Social Studies Teachers. In addition, the effect of Social Studies Teachers on education was examined depending on variables such as gender, knowing a second language, professional seniority, geographical region they live in, experience abroad and whether they have friends from a foreign country. The preservation of cultural values and their transfer to future generations are important for the continuation of the existence of a nation.The contribution of the family as well as the teacher is very important in the acquisition of these values. The teacher's perspective on cultural values, knowledge, attitudes and behaviors affect success. For this reason, teachers are asked to have a command of the cultural values of their students. Thus, the education process will be planned without being insensitive to the values of the student. However, teachers who do not have the necessary knowledge and skills about culturally sensitive education may be inadequate in designing the learning process for students from different cultures. Teaching values and ensuring continuity has been one of the foremost goals of every society. This makes all educational institutions responsible for values education. The inclusion of values in the programs of all educational institutions seems to be a process that can facilitate values education.
